This time of year, I always get a little bit sentimental. Not only because it is around my birthday and wedding anniversary - but also because it is right around the time another momentous occasion occurred in my life years back. It is COLLEGE GRADUATION TIME!

I absolutely adore seeing all of the graduation announcements on social media, in my mailbox, and basically every I turn! It warms my heart seeing how excited all of these grads are that their hard work and dedication to their studies is about to pay off by receiving that well deserved diploma!

So when I was asked to document Jennifer’s graduation photos for her, I was ECSTATIC! She needed cap and gown photos to send out with her graduation announcements to all her friends and family - talk about a big honor!

While she was in town visiting her family for the Easter holiday, we set a time to meet at a local park in Joplin, Missouri. This park is extremely sentimental for all of the Joplin area, and for Jennifer and her mom in particular. Mercy Park is set upon the location that the Mercy Hospital in Joplin once stood - before it was destroyed by the Joplin Tornado in 2011. While shooting, Jennifer and her momma told me the story that they were actually shopping for Jenny’s 8th Grade Graduation dress in Joplin the day that the tornado hit - so scary! Shooting here for her college graduation photos brings the tornado around full circle in her academic career, and I am so glad we were able to take her graduation photos in a place that is now so beautiful!

We took plenty of gorgeous photos of Jenny in her cap and gown that she will wear while she receives her degree from the University of Arkansas! After a quick outfit change, we wandered around the park and took plenty of gorgeous portraits in all the pretty spaces the park had to offer.

Congratulations Jenny on such a momentous and well deserved honor in your life! I am over the moon thrilled for you, and know you will go on to do absolutely amazing things in your life!
